TRADITION, QUALITY, INNOVATION | VICTORINOX

Solid values! It was with this philosophy that Karl Elsener laid the foundations for a local company in 1884, which has since grown from a small cutler’s business into a global brand. The brand name “Victorinox” is a neologism of Victoria, the name of Karl Elsener’s mother, and “inox”, the international designation for stainless steel.

The Victorinox Swiss Army Knife is a time-honored classic. In the early years Karl Elsener worked to combat poverty and unemployment in the Schwyz basin, creating jobs and helping to stem the flow of emigration. With the aim of manufacturing soldiers’ knives in his own country, he founded the Association of Swiss Master Cutlers.

His efforts paid off, and in 1891 he supplied the first soldier’s knife to the Swiss Army. He went on to develop the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife – now the famous Swiss Army Knife – in 1897, creating the foundation for a flourishing company that would be able to hold its own on the world stage. From then on, his spirit of solidarity, deep roots in the region and strong commitment to solid values shaped the Victorinox company philosophy.

Victorinox Swibo knives – the preferred range for filleting fish

With its incredibly sharp and flexible blade, you’ll have the agility and cutting power you need to create perfect fillets every time.
